As we head into the final month of this year and the final month of this decade, I am feeling strongly called to share about my year of possibility.

It all began in January. I don’t normally choose a word of the year for myself. I’m far too non-committal for that sort of thing. But I had been meeting with a small group of women locally when our work together was to discuss possibility.

I shared my story and one of the members of our group said to me, “Shawn, you are the child of possibility.”

And with that … my word of the year was born.

Immediately, I began to see through new eyes wherever I went, opening up to what creating space for possibility meant for me.

I knew going into 2019 that I had 6 goals.

Be Healthy & Radiant — This was strongly related to health issues I had endured through the latter part of 2019. And while I felt like I spent most of 2019 trying to BE this, I am ending the year truly feeling radiant and healthy. I feel better than I have in a long time (aside from a back issue I am dealing with as I write this!). Overall, my health is fantastic and I feel grounded in this healthy living journey for the rest of my life. As a midlife woman, this is vital. Being open to the possibilities on this truly led me to make some key new habits in my life that I now draw upon on a regular basis.

Be Strong & Calm — I wanted to feel mentally, emotionally and physically strong and calm and I definitely nailed this goal this year. The year was not without its struggles. There were many but I handled them all with ease and resilience. This is a work-in-progress but my foundations are built and it’s all about maintaining now. This is by far my most favorite win of the year. Being open to the possibilities on this meant changing a lot of patterns and stories in my life.

Be Connected & Led by the Divine — I wasn’t sure what this meant when I first set this goal. I only knew that I wanted more sacredness to my life and my days and I absolutely stayed OPEN to possibilities on this and this year did not disappoint. I have strong spiritual practices in my day and week that truly feel like bliss. This goal was the easiest and most profound for me to reach and I can’t wait to see where it leads me in 2020.

Be Open to Possibilities — Well, this has been a year to remember. The big possibility that I stepped into was opening up 1:1 private coaching with women. Being in such close connection with women to usher them through personal transformation has been absolutely the most amazing outcome for me for sure. Additionally, I am writing TWO books. And, I am embarking on a 8-month certification process that has led me to meet some fabulous new friends and to feel truly supported in my life. I am strongly thinking of making this my word again for 2020.

Be Positive & Uplifting — I definitely didn’t nail this the first half of 2019 but I am happy to say that I have mastered this now by the end. Being positive and uplifting for my clients is always super easy for me to do. Being positive and uplifting toward myself is often a struggle as I definitely aim for very high expectations and perfectionism. But I made significant progress this year and I’m super proud of the work I’ve done on this goal. Additionally, I really began to use this goal with my daughters who’s negative energy is often too much for me to deal with. It’s been great to see the rewards of this goal showing up on a regular basis in our family. This is going to be on my 2020 list as well.

It’s not always easy to focus on our busy lives and our goals but this year I made the most progress I’ve ever made and I have to say that I worked really hard to get to the end of the year to be able to say YES. I NAILED IT.

2019 has been a wonderful year and I hope that good energy carries into 2020 and the new decade ahead.
