letting go to become something more

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go…

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of letting go, she let it all be.

A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

The first step to living a full life is letting go

Let go.

Let go of the worries, and the imaginary tragedies that unfold in your mind — and just breathe.

Let go of the concept of easy — nothing is.

Let go of wanting to keep things just as they are — be open to what happens next.

Let go of what you want — and be happy with what you have.

Let go of who’s letting you down — and start focusing on who’s building you up.

Let go of what you thought your life was going to be like — and embrace how it has turned out with a great big YES!

Let go of every single notion that you are less than, imperfect, not good enough — and accept yourself, finally.

Let go of how the story was supposed to end — and trust that this is just the beginning.

Let go of hoping for the ideal — and become best friends with what it means to be content.

Project-52 Week 7 Notice the Details

I find myself just about to come out of a very long phase of letting go. I do that now and then. It’s just another season of my life. I reduce the distractions that make me question who I am … and I spend a great deal of time redefining myself. Letting go is just my way of waking up, again. It’s how I reduce life down to what matters — what absolutely needs to be in my life. Everything else … released.

This week’s Project 52 | Stay Awake challenge is Let Go — and it’s the hardest of any we’ve done so far.  Letting go isn’t always easy. But, first you have homework! Go to this post and read it. Then, visually think about what you will let go of this week? Or maybe forever? Do the prompts. Write about it. I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Link to your blog posts in response in the comments!

Peaceful Bits & Updates

Behind-the-Scenes: As for me, I’ll write about what I am letting go of later this week but for now suffice it to say that I am in deep planning and production mode for the upcoming Abundant Mama Project. I am just so eager and anxious for this course to begin. The time is certainly ripe as I feel myself slipping back into my own negative thought patterns about imperfect parts of my life. Working on myself and planning this gratitude course is the biggest gift I’m giving myself right now. Nothing but self-care and self-love right now … avoiding anything or anyone who might stir up things again. Don’t forget to get on the waiting list for The Abundant Mama Project so you can be the first to know when it’s open for registration!

What I’m loving: Seeing my girls get so excited – and scream – when they saw a firework go off in the sky, fresh peaches, avocados eaten plain, how my girls pick up the iPod and put ear buds in, losing themselves in the music and remembering to close my eyes when I feel overwhelmed with life. I’m also loving how my gratitude journal is reminding me of the goodness that falls into our lives each and every day — special people, surprises from strangers and kindness of neighbors who have taken on our girls as their own grandchildren, donating to their passionate cause this weekend to save the Koala, showing them bits and pieces of their lives and even letting them walk their dog.

What I’ve been up to: Camping. Hiking. Tree hugging. Swimming. Baking. Connecting. Living. Dreaming. Writing. Plotting. Visioning. Believing. Trusting. Relaxing. Hoping.

What about you? What are you up to? What’s working for you? What’s not working for you? What do you need to let go of? Do more of?
