Project 52 Week 10 Challenge is Go Outside

This is Week 10 of {Project 52} Stay Awake. Lately, I’ve been a more active observer outside.

And I’ve found new ways to be more mindful when out in nature.

Look up. See the shape of the clouds. Watch their path as they make their way across the world’s sky.

Feel the earth beneath you. Ground yourself into her strong core. Take your shoes off if you can and walk barefoot.

Week 10 of Project 52 Stay Awake encourages you to go outside

Breathe deep. So deep the fresh air fills every pore, every crevice, every cell, every atom of your body.

Smell what being alive feels like. Smell a new day. Smell hope and possibility. Smell nature at her best.

Open your eyes. Notice the blades of grass. The cracks in dirt. The bark on trees. The sun in the sky.

Listen for the quiet. Eavesdrop on a bird conversation. Let the wind’s whistle take you away. Observe the swoosh of the branches in the breeze.

And if you are lucky enough, as we have been, to have snow. Step in it. Stomp in it. Splash in it. Scoop it up with your bare hands.

And if you are lucky enough to live in a place where spring means trees beginning to turn colors. Embrace the vivid colors.

{Project 52}: Stay Awake Challenge — Go Outside. Step out into the world and really take it all in. Feeling cranky? Go outside. Feeling happy? Go outside. Feeling sad? Go outside. It’s about the most awake you can get in life. Start with 10 minutes a day and work your way up to 30 minutes a day.

Photo Tip from Beryl — Train your eye to look all around you. Set your camera to the dial with the flower. This setting is called your ‘macro’ setting and is there to help you grab details and close up shots! This setting works for flowers (our daffodils are already poking out of the winter frost!) anything else in nature where you want a closer view.

  1. Like you said my mood is always better when I get outside. It’s something I definitely need to do more often and to encourage my children to do!

  2. My family and I love the outdoors. Our moods perk up and our energy is high but grounded. I love feeling the earth beneath my feet and gazing at the beautiful details of a flower or the moss on the ground. My son(8) has already ventured out to make fairy houses. We are looking forward to warmer temperatures and the arrival of flowers. Thank you for this kind offer!

  3. I love being outside and working in my garden! I have already started though it is still cold. This past weekend I transplanted some little seedlings into my new cold frame. I'm excited to watch them grow :)

  4. I love being outside in the Spring! Birds, flowers, sunshine…everything seems new.

  5. I love being outside and can't wait for the warm weather. We went to the park on Sunday for 2 hours and my daughter has so much fun. First time really out playing since Winter started and it felt great. Looking forward to more play dates in the park.
