This one with the pile of dishes in the sink from last night’s bake fest.

This one with the piles of clutter that sit around the room, rudely staring at you for attention.

This one with the screaming child with his hands folded across his chest, and anger lingering in his heart.

This one with all those Facebook updates of other people’s lives, other people’s actions, other people’s insecurities.

Don’t you know your life is happening right now while you’re worried about what comes next?

Don’t you know your life is happening right now while you’re fretting about what just happened?

What are you missing out on?

What beauty is passing you, completely unnoticed?

What memories are you skipping over like a never-ending game of hopscotch?

  1. Shawn, I wanted to say thank you. Truly, deeply and heartfelt I thank you. I am a mother of two little people. My daughter Isabelle is 2 and my son Tyler is 10 months old. They inspire me, make me laugh and leave me with a sense of awe and gratitude I couldn’t comprehend before I had children. I am in this place of joy and bliss because I chose to be here. To not focus on all the unfinished chores, how tired I am being up most of the night or the tantrums that occur fairly regularly when your daughter is 2 and sharing mommys attention with her new brother. It has been your posts, emails and articles that have shifted my focus from fretting over all I have to do to being present with my children. Listening to them, putting away my cell phone (after the realization that my and my friends FB status can wait. ) laughing with them and exploring the exciting world around us. Your inspiration allowed me to fix the disconnect I felt between the stressed out ( and frustrated) mom I was, and the truly present, happy and attentive mom I wanted to be. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your message got to me.. And I’m a better mom for it.
