My 3-Step Planning System for Taking Time for Myself

There’s never enough time for myself.

This is the ultimate statement I hear from women when they sign up for The Abundant Mama Online Program.

But the most disheartening thing for any mom to realize is that there’s no magic bullet for making time for ourselves in motherhood.

Self-Care — which we now lovingly refer to self-love in our alumni community — is a journey and a practice that is very much like stepping on the treadmill to get in a walk or a run. If you don’t dedicate yourself to it, it won’t happen.

Self-care time is hard to fit in for the mere fact that we’re all just very busy and there’s nearly always something that needs to be done in every single moment in our lives as moms

But we also know that we NEED to care for ourselves and do what makes us happy.

In order be an Abundant Mama — present, peaceful and playful — we must find a way to care for ourselves in the way that fills us up, gives us energy and sustains us all day long.

Many women who go into the Abundant Mama Online Program have very little idea how to really care for themselves — in a way that leaves them feeling satisfied and content. During the program, though, they have some serious epiphanies and realize that they’d been really busy chasing things that weren’t working.

But if they don’t have the TIME to do those things, it doesn’t matter.

During the Online Program, we work on various obstacles that get in the way of self-care — obstacles such as not feeling worthy and putting more time into others than ourselves.

And, what women often realize is that self-care — no matter how important it is to us — doesn’t happen unless we WANT it to happen.

Unless we MAKE it happen. 

Taking time for myself isn’t always easy to do. In fact, I resist it if it’s not planned into my calendar — in a way that reminds me that there is time.

You can have the biggest goal in the world but if you don’t make it happen, it will pass you by for All The Things that take over as urgent and necessary – which is a lot of things.

That’s where this week’s episode of The Abundant Mama Show comes in … I’m sharing my own 3-step plan for making time for myself — and some other tips.

Because if something is important, it must be on the calendar.

And that includes ME.
